What are Monthly Listeners?
Monthly listeners is a metric used on music streaming platforms to show how many unique users have listened to an artist within the past 28 days. This number represents the total count of individual listeners, not the total number of streams.
For example, if one person listens to an artist’s song 20 times in a month, it still counts as one monthly listener. However, if 10,000 different people each listen to the artist at least once during that time period, the artist would have 10,000 monthly listeners.
This metric is commonly displayed on artist pages on platforms such as Spotify. Monthly listeners help measure an artist’s reach and audience size, showing how many people are actively listening to their music within a given period.
