What is a Channel Strip?
A channel strip is a set of audio processing controls used to manage and shape the sound of a single audio channel in a mixing console, digital audio workstation, or hardware processor.
A typical channel strip includes several sections such as a microphone preamp, equalizer (EQ), compressor, gate, and fader. These tools allow engineers to adjust the level, tone, dynamics, and routing of the audio signal for that specific track.
Channel strips are used in both hardware consoles and software plugins to process individual sources such as vocals, instruments, or microphones. By combining multiple processing tools into a single workflow, channel strips make it easier to control and refine the sound of each channel in a mix.
