What is a Delay Plugin?
A delay plugin is an audio processing tool used in digital audio workstations (DAWs) to create repeating echoes of a sound. It works by recording the incoming audio signal and playing it back again after a short period of time, producing a series of delayed repetitions.
Delay plugins typically include controls for parameters such as delay time, feedback, and wet/dry mix. Delay time determines how long the plugin waits before repeating the sound, feedback controls how many repeats occur, and the wet/dry mix adjusts the balance between the original signal and the delayed echoes.
Delay effects are widely used in music production to add depth, rhythm, and atmosphere to sounds. Producers often apply delay to vocals, guitars, synthesizers, and percussion to create space in a mix, emphasize rhythmic patterns, or produce creative echo-based effects.
