What is a Direct-Drive Turntable?
A direct-drive turntable is a type of turntable in which the platter is connected directly to the motor that spins it. This design allows the platter to rotate with high torque and maintain a very stable speed.
Unlike belt-drive turntables, which use a rubber belt to connect the motor to the platter, direct-drive turntables place the motor directly beneath the platter. This direct connection allows the platter to start and stop quickly and maintain consistent rotational speed.
Direct-drive turntables are especially popular with DJs because their strong motor torque allows for techniques such as scratching, cueing, and quick track manipulation. They are also valued for their durability and precise speed control in both professional DJ setups and high-quality audio playback systems.
