What is a DVS (Digital Vinyl System)?

A DVS, or Digital Vinyl System, is a DJ technology that allows DJs to control digital music files using traditional turntables and special timecode records. It combines the tactile feel of vinyl with the flexibility of digital DJ software.

In a DVS setup, a vinyl record containing a timecode signal is placed on the turntable instead of a normal music record. As the record spins, the timecode signal is read by the DJ software through an audio interface or compatible mixer. The software interprets the position and movement of the record to control playback of digital audio files.

This system allows DJs to perform techniques such as scratching, cueing, and pitch adjustment on digital tracks just as they would with traditional vinyl records. DVS systems are widely used in professional DJ environments because they provide the hands-on control of vinyl while giving access to large digital music libraries.
