What is a Group Track?
A group track is a track in a digital audio workstation (DAW) that combines multiple individual tracks into a single channel for shared control and processing. It allows producers and engineers to manage several related tracks as one unit.
When tracks are assigned to a group track, their audio signals are routed to that group channel. This makes it possible to adjust the overall volume, panning, and effects processing for the entire group simultaneously. For example, all drum tracks might be routed to a drum group, allowing compression or equalization to be applied to the whole drum mix at once.
Group tracks are widely used in mixing to organize complex sessions and simplify workflow. They make it easier to control large numbers of tracks while maintaining a balanced and cohesive sound within the overall mix.
