What is a Reflection Filter?
A reflection filter is a portable acoustic device placed behind a microphone to reduce unwanted sound reflections from the surrounding environment. It is designed to help isolate the microphone from room noise and echoes during recording.
Reflection filters typically consist of a curved panel made from acoustic foam, metal, or layered sound-absorbing materials. The curved shape surrounds the rear of the microphone, helping to absorb or block sound reflections that would otherwise bounce off nearby walls and enter the microphone.
These devices are commonly used in home studios, voiceover recording, podcasting, and vocal recording setups where full room acoustic treatment may not be available. By reducing reflections and ambient noise, reflection filters help produce cleaner and more focused recordings.
