What is a Subwoofer (PA)?
A PA subwoofer is a large speaker used in public address (PA) systems to reproduce very low-frequency sounds, typically in the bass range. It is designed to handle the deepest parts of the audio spectrum that standard PA speakers may not reproduce effectively.
PA subwoofers usually cover frequencies roughly between 20 Hz and 120 Hz, which include powerful elements such as kick drums, bass guitars, electronic bass lines, and low-frequency effects. These speakers use large drivers and strong amplifiers to move large amounts of air and produce deep bass that can be heard and felt by the audience.
In live sound systems, subwoofers are typically used alongside full-range PA speakers. The full-range speakers handle mid and high frequencies, while the subwoofers reproduce the low end. This combination creates a more balanced and powerful sound system for concerts, clubs, festivals, and other live events.
