What is an Audio Clip?
An audio clip is a segment of recorded or imported sound used within a digital audio workstation (DAW). It contains actual audio data such as vocals, instruments, sound effects, or recorded performances.
Audio clips appear as waveform representations on a timeline or grid within the DAW. They can be edited by trimming, cutting, moving, looping, or adjusting their position within a project. Producers can also apply effects such as equalization, compression, or reverb to audio clips to shape their sound.
Audio clips are commonly used for recorded material like vocals, live instruments, field recordings, and sound effects. Unlike MIDI clips, which contain performance instructions, audio clips store the actual sound itself as digital audio data.
