What is Metalcore?

Metalcore is a subgenre of heavy metal that blends elements of metal and hardcore punk. The style is known for its aggressive guitar riffs, heavy breakdowns, fast drumming, and intense vocal performances that often combine screaming with melodic singing. Metalcore songs frequently feature powerful rhythmic sections designed to create dramatic energy, especially during breakdowns where the tempo slows and the guitars and drums emphasize heavy, rhythmic patterns.
