What is Reamping?
Reamping is a recording technique where a previously recorded audio signal, often from a guitar or bass, is sent out of the recording system and played back through an amplifier or effects chain to capture a new version of the sound.
During the original recording, engineers may record a clean direct signal (DI) from the instrument. Later, that signal can be routed through different amplifiers, speaker cabinets, or effects processors to experiment with tone without requiring the musician to perform the part again.
Reamping is widely used in music production because it provides flexibility during mixing. Producers can adjust the sound of the instrument after the performance has already been recorded, allowing them to refine tone and experiment with different sonic textures.
