Next Myle Headlines Third Music in the Park Concert in Norway, Michigan

Next Myle will take the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the bandshell in downtown Norway, Michigan, as part of the city’s free Music in the Park series. The Iron Mountain‑based group, which has been active since 2003, will perform a set of classic rock songs that the band has described as a “fun show” for the community.

The band was founded in 2003 by Paul Quello, Bill Bice, Kristen Nordine, Kevin Fraker and Darwyn Aberly. While the lineup has changed over the years, Next Myle has maintained a focus on energetic live performances that encourage listeners to dance and enjoy the music. The group has built a steady following through appearances at regional events such as FlivverFest, the Hodag Festival, the Niagara Lions Club Picnic, and the Auburn Parks Association Picnic.

Music in the Park is a summer concert series that runs from June to August on Thursday evenings. The series is hosted at the Norway Band Shell, a historic outdoor venue located on Main Street near City Hall. The concerts are free to the public and have become a staple of the Upper Peninsula’s cultural calendar. The program director, Carol Sundstrom, noted that the series aims to provide “a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful bandshell park in Norway for our third free performance of this summer’s fabulous series.”

The series has received financial support from a wide range of local sponsors. Major contributors for 2026 include the Vulcan‑Norway/Loretto Lions Club, Holmberg General Insurance Agency, the Tourism Association of Dickinson County, Norway TDS Pharmacy, Loadmaster of Norway, Northern Interstate Bank, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Jim’s Music, Preferred Powersports, the Law Offices of Mouw & Celello, and the Norway Senior Center, among others. Media partners include WJNR, WHTO, WOBE radio, The Daily News, and The Advertiser.

Following Next Myle’s performance, the series will continue with a lineup of local and regional acts. The schedule for the remainder of the summer is:

July 2 – The Grand Design Band July 9 – Kind of Blues July 16 – Kaleidoscope Jos July 23 – Finding Feathers July 30 – Music Jar Aug. 6 – The River Cities Big Band * Aug. 13 – The DayDreamers (double‑header with Iron Mountain’s Out to Lunch)

If inclement weather occurs, concerts will be moved to the Crossroads Church on Odill Drive, behind the Norway Historical Museum. Attendees are encouraged to check the Music in the Park Facebook page for real‑time updates.

The next Music in the Park concert follows a successful June 18 show featuring Groove Candy, a band that was new to the series and received a positive response from the audience. Greg Hunt, the music/programming coordinator, praised the band’s performance and the community’s enthusiasm.

Next Myle’s appearance on the bandshell continues the tradition of bringing high‑quality live music to the community while supporting local businesses and sponsors. The event is part of a broader effort to keep the Upper Peninsula’s cultural scene vibrant during the summer months.

The series is scheduled to run through mid‑August, with the final show on Aug. 13. The organizers have not announced any changes to the lineup or format beyond the weather‑related venue shift.
