JBL Music Academy with Martin Garrix and Benson Boone Opens Applications for Class of 2026
JBL has announced that the fourth‑year edition of its Music Academy, co‑presented by Dutch DJ‑producer Martin Garrix and American singer‑songwriter Benson Boone, is now accepting applications for the Class of 2026. The program, which will launch in the fall of 2026, is based at STMPD Studios in Amsterdam and will host 30 emerging musicians, songwriters, singers and producers.
The academy is designed as an intensive, industry‑led workshop series that covers songwriting, production, performance, and marketing. Participants will receive one‑on‑one mentorship from Garrix, Boone and other industry professionals, and will have access to STMPD Studios’ recording facilities. The curriculum also includes networking sessions that connect students with peers and potential collaborators. The program’s goal is to equip artists with the skills and contacts needed to advance their careers.
JBL has highlighted the success of previous graduates to illustrate the academy’s impact. In 2025, alumnus Lofin worked with Garrix to transform a demo into a fully produced track, collaborating with Mark Otton and Frank van Essen. Another graduate, Merow, signed with STMPD RCRDS after completing the program and has since performed worldwide, building an international following. Alumni have also performed at high‑profile events such as Tomorrowland, the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and Club JBL shows in London and Amsterdam.
Applications are open to artists aged 18 and older from a broad geographic range. Eligible applicants may submit a motivational video and up to three original music tracks through the academy’s website. The application window opened on 1 June 2026 and will close on 14 August 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on 3 September, with finalists revealed on 24 September. The program accepts participants from the following regions:
• Europe: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. • Asia: China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and South Korea. • India (excluding Tamil Nadu), Australia, the United States, Brazil and Argentina.
JBL, a subsidiary of HARMAN International, has a long history of supporting artists beyond the academy. The company’s “Making Voices Heard” purpose underpins the program, and its partnership with STMPD RCRDS—founded by Garrix in 2016—provides a direct link to the contemporary electronic music scene. Benson Boone’s role as a global ambassador brings a pop‑centric perspective to the curriculum.
The academy is part of JBL’s broader strategy to nurture creative talent across the audio industry. JBL’s professional audio division supplies studio monitors, live PA systems and cinema sound systems, while its consumer brands deliver high‑quality speakers and headphones. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, JBL continues to invest in technology that supports artists, producers and listeners alike.
In a statement, Garrix said, “The JBL Music Academy has always been about creating opportunities.” The program’s emphasis on mentorship, hands‑on training and industry exposure positions it as a key resource for artists looking to break into the competitive music market.
The current status is that applications are open until 14 August 2026. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to submit their materials promptly. The academy will begin its fall 2026 cohort in September, following the selection process outlined above.
